mīrāthINHERITANCE, UNDERSTOOD

THE PRINCIPLES

A little clarity, before you begin.

Count eligible heirs who were alive at the time of death. Every relationship is relative to the deceased.

Reasonable funeral costs and debts are settled first. A valid wasiyyah to non-heirs may use up to one-third of what remains. A bequest to an heir or above one-third needs appropriate consent and review.

This prototype implements ordinary classical Sunni Hanafi succession. It is not a scholar-certified distribution or a substitute for local estate administration. Cases involving distant kindred, deeper ancestry, eligibility questions, uncertain deaths, or sole-spouse succession are referred for review.

Rule policy: the paternal grandfather blocks siblings; radd excludes spouses when blood sharers survive; the mother receives one-third of the remainder with spouse and father in Umariyyatayn. All adjustments preserve exact fractions.
